Richmond, VA â The Richmond Braves of the International League have named John Emmett Director of Media Relations. Emmett moves into a full-time front office role with the Braves after working last season as the club's number two radio broadcaster. He will start with the Braves March 1. Emmett replaces Todd Feagans, who left the club after eight seasons.
Emmett comes to the Braves with extensive sports media relations experience in Richmond. He is currently in his second season as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations with the United Hockey League's Richmond RiverDogs. He held the same position for five years with the ECHL's Richmond Renegades. Emmett also handled broadcasting and media relations duties with the Richmond Speed of arenafootball2. He has worked previously in pro baseball as a radio/TV broadcaster in the Cactus League, Arizona Fall League, Pacific Coast League, California League, Pioneer League, and Northwest League.
"I am very excited to have the chance to join the Braves," Emmett said. "I know first hand how good a job Todd did and I look forward to the challenge of continuing the Braves reputation for outstanding service to the media," Emmett added.
Emmett, a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, is a graduate of San Francisco State University. He and his wife Lori and their sons Nolan and Sean live in Mechanicsville.
The Braves open the 2005 International League season April 7 at Buffalo. The home opener is Friday, April 15 at The Diamond vs. Louisville at 4 PM.
