Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Greenville Braves shut out the Suns, 1-0, on Wednesday in front of 2,348 fans at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

The Suns (37-46 overall, 6-8 second half) were shut out for the 11th time this season and lost for the third time by a 1-0 score.

Suns starter Tommy Farmer (5-7) earned the loss despite allowing four hits, one run, one walk and striking out seven over seven innings. The only run he allowed was on Jean Boscan's RBI double that was hit inches fair down the left field line in the fifth inning. That was the last hit the Suns allowed.

The Suns had runners at third base twice with less than two outs. In the second inning with runners at first and third, Jason Repko and B.J. Waszgis both struck out looking, ending Jacksonville's threat. In the seventh, after Brennan King's leadoff double and Repko's walk, Waszgis sacrificed them into scoring position. Kevin Barry relieved Willie Collazo and prompted two flyouts to end the inning.

Bubba Nelson (7-7) started, pitching six shutout innings for the Braves (39-44, 3-11). Billy Sylvester struck out the side in the ninth to earn his sixth save – his second in two nights vs. the Suns.

King led both teams with two hits.

Right-hander Heath Totten (4-9, 4.45 ERA) is scheduled to face Braves righty Daniel Curtis (1-0, 0.87) at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
