Mississippi Braves News Release


The Mississippi Braves announce that INF Martin Prado has been promoted to the Major League Atlanta Braves. C/INF Eddie Perez has been reassigned to AA Mississippi from Atlanta. INF Willie James has been promoted to AA Mississippi from High-A Myrtle Beach. INF/OF Barbaro Canizares has been assigned to AA Mississippi from extended spring training. LHP Macay McBride has been promoted to AAA Richmond to complete his rehabilitation. OF Onil Joseph has been reassigned to High-A Myrtle Beach from AA Mississippi. RHP Dave Coggin has been placed on the disabled list.

Martin Prado was promoted to the Major League Atlanta Braves on 4/20 to replace injured second baseman Marcus Giles. Prado was batting .302 with three doubles, four RBI, and seven runs scored at the time of his promotion. Prado is the seventh Mississippi Brave promoted directly to Atlanta. During the '05 season, six AA Braves went straight to the big leagues: Brian McCann, Blaine Boyer, Jorge Vasquez, Jeff Francoeur, Jay Powell, and Joey Devine. In less than two full years, the Mississippi Braves have sent a total of 11 players on to play in Atlanta.
