Bravehearts win behind Collett's strong outing

BRISTOL, Conn. - As the month of July winds down, the Worcester Bravehearts picked up a key 2-1 victory on the road against the Bristol Blues on Thursday night, July 30 on Muzzy Field in Bristol, Connecticut.

Dylan Collett (Saint Leo / Altamont, New York) was masterful in his performance, as he went eight strong innings giving up just one run on two hits and striking out seven. Worcester reliever Logan Fullmer tossed a 1-2-3 inning in the 9th to collect his second save of the season.

The Bravehearts scored both their runs in the 3rd inning. With the bases loaded, center fielder Ian Strom (UMass Lowell / Hopedale) hit a sacrifice fly to score right fielder Willie Allen (Lewis & Clark State / Boston), and designated hitter Alex Sanchez (Galveston / New York, New York) followed up with an RBI single to score shortstop Dante Ricciardi (Georgetown / West Boylston).

Both of Worcester's runs came off Blues starter Troy Terzi (Post / Wallingford, Connecticut). The right-hander allowed two runs on six hits with four strikeouts.

Blues left fielder Jamie Timothy (Roger Williams / Cohasset) scored his team's only run on a ground out in the 6th inning.

The Worcester Bravehearts return home to play the second half of a home-and-home with the Bristol Blues at 7:05 p.m. Friday night, July 31 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field. Friday is Military Appreciation Night with Fireworks from Project New Hope. Vets & active military get in free with ID, and guests 1/2 off.
