Bravehearts fall behind early in loss to Silver Knights

Nashua, N.H. - The Worcester Bravehearts struck out 11 times in a 10-2 loss to the Nashua Silver Knights on July 16 at Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H.

Nashua starter Tom Hudon struck out 10 and allowed only one earned run on two hits in 6.1 innings pitched. The Silver Knights southpaw entered the matchup 0-4 but collected his first win of the season.

Despite taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Bravehearts gave back two runs, as starter Justin Versteeg loaded the bases and gave up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Versteeg got the loss despite pitching only 0.2 innings. Charlie Butler finished the inning in relief but imploded in the third inning when he allowed five runs on five hits.

The Silver Knights recorded 11 hits combined led by second baseman Guy Davidson who finished 2-3 with 4 RBI. Davidson topped off his performance with a two-run home run in the seventh inning.

The Bravehearts collected six hits and scored their only earned run in the seventh inning when shortstop Andy Lack hit an RBI single to score designated hitter Nick Nunziato.

Worcester will matchup with the Brockton Rox at 7 p.m. July 17 at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, Mass.
