Finan Complete Game Helps Put Suns in First

PITTSFIELD, MA (July 16, 2014) - Justin Finan pitched the first complete game in Suns history Wednesday night at Wahconah Park, and helped propel the Suns to first place in Western division with a 8-2 victory against the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide.

The scoring started for Pittsfield in the second inning. After back-to-back singles to lead off hitter, Michael Valentin, Jr. and Paul Cotler, Tyler Bell would hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Valentin to score from third and giving the Suns an early 1-0 advantage.

Pittrsfield would score seven more times amassing eight runs and 11 hits, including a sixth innng solo homerun from Paul Cotler, his first of the season, and a two-run homer by Dan Palazzo (2) in the eighth inning.

Finan made history Wednesday evening, pitching the first complete nine-inning game for the Pittsfield Suns. He gave up only two runs and had no walks while striking out two, in his second win of the season. Old Orchard Beach's Zach Kirby (0-2) would be charged with the loss.

The Suns return to Wahconah Park Friday, July 18th as they take on the Eastern Division leader, Brockton Rox, at 7 PM.
