Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba -- The Brandon Wheat Kings, in conjunction with Purina Pet Care and its local retailers have announced plans for the 2008 Pucks 'n Pets Tennis Ball Toss, to be held on Wednesday, March 12th at Westman Communications Group Place when the Prince Albert Raiders come to town.
Fans attending the contest - which is the Final Rain Check Game of the 2007-08 season - will be encouraged to purchase a (numbered) tennis ball for $2. During the second intermission of the game, fans will be invited to litter the ice with them for a chance to win some great prizes.
This year's grand prize includes dog food for a year courtesy of Purina and a 2008-09 Wheat Kings' Season Ticket.
In addition to next Wednesday's game, fans can purchase tennis balls in advance at either the Brandon Humane Society or the Wheat Kings' office.
All proceeds from the tennis ball sales will be donated to the Brandon Humane Society.
The Brandon Humane Society has been in operation since 1946 when it was founded by Eleanor Kidd. She originally housed the shelter in ther garage on 13th Street, then in an abandoned stable near Empress Bay, and later in an old barn near the riverbank where Eleanor Kidd Gardens are now located.
In 1997, the shelter moved to its new premises at 2200 17th Street East. These days, our residents - both cats and dogs - live in a comfortable building with heat and air conditioning, two large exercise yards, an enclosed cat patio and enough kennels for 20 cats and thirteen dogs. When our kennels are full, our dedicated volunteers foster animals in their own homes.
Since this is a no-kill shelter, the atompshere is very positive...our animals are loved and well cared for as they wait to be adopted. We invite you to come visit us and see for yourself!
For more information on this year's Pucks 'n Pets Contest or the Brandon Humane Society, call Tracy Munn at 728-1333 or visit us at www.brandonhumanesociety.ca
Tickets to the game are on sale now at the Keystone box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca Because this is the final Rain Check game of the year, fans will want to avoid disappointment by turning in their unused tickets as early as possible. Last year's Pucks 'n Pets game was a complete sell-out.
