GAME NOTES: The WHEAT KINGS bring the curtain down on their 2006-07 Western Hockey League regular season schedule Saturday night at the Brandt Centre in REGINA...BRANDON will be hoping to complete a weekend home and home series sweep, after beating the PATS 9-5 Friday night...The WHEAT KINGS won their second East Division pennant in three years; fourth in six seasons this year and will finish 3rd in the Conference...BRANDON will face PRINCE ALBERT in the opening round of the playoffs, after the RAIDERS snapped a 5-game losing streak Friday night with a 5-0 victory over the SASKATOON BLADES...Friday night's wi n extended BRANDON'S home ice win streak to ten games...WHEAT KINGS haven't lost on home ice since Feb. 6th (3-1 to SASKATOON)...BRANDON goes into its final game of the year with a record of 41-20-2-8, good for 92 points, marking the 14th time since joining the WCHL in 1967 that they've won 40 or more games...This year's pennant was the club's tenth in franchise history...WHEATIES had their season high 9-game win streak snapped last Saturday (3-2 in SWIFT CURRENT)...Before losing Saturday night, the WHEAT KINGS had gone 12 games (11-0-0-1) without a defeat in regulation time... BRANDON finished the year with an impressive 27-4-1-4 record on home ice, good for 59 points and third overall (behind EVERETT'S 61 and MEDICINE HAT'S 60 points)...On the road, BRANDON is 14-16-1-4...9-1-0 in its last ten games...5-1-0 in the month of March after going 9-2-0-1 in February...23-10-2- 6 against Eastern Division rivals...5-8-2 in Overtime and 4-8 in Shootouts...Tickets to games one and two of their opening round playoff series with PRINCE ALBERT - scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 23rd and 24th - are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office.
VS. REGINA: This is the ninth and final meeting of the season between these two teams...BRANDON is 3-2-0-3 against the PATS...WHEAT KINGS have two two straight against REGINA...MARK DERLAGO (5-6-11), ANDREW CLARK (6-3-9) and CODEY BURKI (3-4-7) lead the WHEATS in scoring against the PATS while TYLER PLANTE has struggled vs. REGINA, compiling a 3.93 goals against average and an .888 save percentage in seven appearances.
LAST GAME: Captain MARK DERLAGO scored his league leading 44th and 45th goals of the season as the WHEAT KINGS beat the visiting PATS 9-5 on Friday night...CODEY BURKI and ANDREW CLARK also had two goals each for the winners, who outshot REGINA 34-20...Singles came off the sticks of rookie NATHAN GREEN, ROB KLINKHAMMER and DANIEL BARTEK...BRANDON scored 5 powerplay goals and one shorthanded.

CODEY BURKI has points in 7 of his last 8 games (7-8-15) and 9 of his last 11 (9-8-17)...MARK DERLAGO has 11 goals in his last 14 games...ROB KLINKHAMMER is 10-20-30 in 26 games since being obtained from PORTLAND in January. In his last 15 games, he's 7-17-24...JEFF TOPILKO has points in 13 of his last 16 (12-12-24)...Rookie JAY FEHR is 0-6-6 in last seven...DARYL BOYLE has points in five straight (3-4-7).
MILESTONES: DARYL BOYLE will be playing in his 200th career WHL game Saturday...His blueline partner, DUSTIN KOHN played in his 250th career WHL game on March 7th...JEFF TOPILKO moved into a tie with ERIC FEHR for 11th place on the club's all time list for games played (279)... The club's all time leader with 12 career shutouts, TYLER PLANTE is second all time in games (164) and minutes played (9524). The club record currently belongs to current WASHINGTON CAPITALS' coach GLEN HANLON (172 games; 9805 minutes played)...Last week's crowd of 5,927 (second largest in franchise history), established a new Single Season Attendance record, breaking the old mark set in 2002-03. BRANDON averaged 4,132 f ans per game in 2006-07.
PLANTE, REAVES NET AWARDS: One week after veteran goalkeeper TYLER PLANTE was named winner of the SHOPPERS MALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR, 19-year old right-winger RYAN REAVES was chosen the first ever winner of the PRECISION TOYOTA NEVER QUIT UNSUNG HERO Award...Both were determined by online voting at wheatkings.com...PLANTE has played in 54 of BRANDON'S 71 games this season...REAVES is 15-20-35 in 69 games.
