Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release
HAMILTON - Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver/kick returner Brandon Banks has been named the CFL's Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance in the Eastern Final last Sunday .
Banks set a new CFL playoff record with 226 punt return yards and tied Larry Taylor for the most punt return touchdowns in a playoff game with two in the Ticats 40-26 win over the Montreal Alouettes. The elusive return man also had three carries for 35 yards and four catches for 33 yards on the day.
Banks was named an East Division All-Star earlier this month after finishing his sophomore season as the CFL-leader in combined (1,968) and punt return yards (618). He was also the only return man to return both a kickoff and a punt for a touchdown this season.
This is this the third time Banks has been named Special Teams Player of the Week and the sixth time a Ticat has earned the award.
