Scott Sheppard scored twice to lead the Texas Brahmas over the Mississippi RiverKings 3-2 in Game 3 of the Central Hockey League's Northern Conference Opening Round.
The Brahmas win the series 2-1 and move on to face the Governor's Cup champion Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in a best-of-seven conference semifinal series that begins on Sunday at CenturyTel Center in Bossier City.
Ryan Held put the RiverKings in front on the power play with his first goal of the playoffs 5:52 into the game. The Brahmas came back right away, though. Sheppard's second goal of the series at 6:57 made it a 1-1 game. With 42 seconds remaining in the first, Anders Strome scored his second of the series to give the Brahmas a 2-1 lead after one.
Sheppard scored on a penalty shot 6:31 into the second period to make it a two-goal game. However, the RiverKings never quit. Ryan Campbell scored shorthanded with 5:10 remaining in the third period for his first goal of the playoffs.
Brett Jaeger made 41 saves for the Brahmas. Sebastien Centomo made 27 saves for the RiverKings.
