
Brahmas Sweep the Bugs

Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Shreveport Mudbugs (8-8-2) couldn't hold a 3rd period lead and fell to the Lone Star Brahmas, 3-2 Saturday night at the Nytex Sports Centre.
The Mudbugs had a fast start in the contest, but Lone Star broke through first late in the 1st period when Thomas Daskas backhanded in the rebound in front at 18:37. SOG were tied 4-4 as Lone Star led 1-0 after one period of play.
The Bugs rallied back in the 2nd period when Conor Witherspoon tipped home his 2nd goal of the game at 9:13 tying the game up, 1-1. Andrew Jackson and Joel Frazee grabbed the assists on the goal. Shreveport fed off the momentum later in the 2nd period when Witherspoon buried home his 2nd goal of the game from the slot at 18:30 giving the Bugs a 2-1 lead. Josh Barraclough and Jacob Skolnik earned the helpers on the goal.
The Brahmas never gave up in the 3rd period and dramatically tied the game up with a goal from Matt Guerra through traffic tying the game up, 2-2 at 19:36.
The game stayed tied until the shootout session and the deciding goal was scored from Clayton Lackey lifting the Brahmas to a 3-2 victory over the Mudbugs.
Shreveport has now dropped seven straight at Nytex Sports Centre dating back to last season.
The Mudbugs will return home for the first time in over a month to take on the Odessa Jackalopes for a two-game series at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. It's "Stick It To Cancer" weekend with Game 1 next Friday night with the puck drop scheduled for 7:11 p.m. ?
