Brahmas Keep Season Alive with Win in Arlington Rematch

A defensive touchdown and a perfect day from Kicker Parker Romo give the San Antonio Brahmas a 15-9 victory, ending their three game losing streak.

Defensive Score

Linebacker Jordan Williams scored the first defensive touchdown in Brahmas history with 6:33 left in the first half after Delontae Scott stripped the ball from Arlington quarterack Drew Plitt on a sack. Williams returned the fumble 39 yards for the first touchdown of the game and gave San Antonio a 9-0 lead.

First half shutout

While the Brahmas boast the second best scoring defense in the league, the week six game against Arlington marked the first time San Antonio has shutout their opponent in the first half this season. The Brahmas held Arlington to 46 total yards and just two first downs in the first half as San Antonio took a 9-0 lead into halftime.

Romo on a Roll

Kicker Parker Romo was responsible for nine of the Brahmas 15 points and was a perfect 3/3 on the day. With 1:46 left in the first quarter, Romo knocked a 29-yard field goal through the uprights to give the Brahmas an early 3-0 lead. Then, with 8:56 left in the fourth quarter, Romo drilled a 45-yard field goal to put the Brahmas up 12-9. With under two minutes to go in the game, Romo made a 46-yard field goal to give the Brahmas a 15-9 lead. Romo has now made six field goals of 40+ yards and is 10/11 on the season. (91%).

Icing it on the Ground

For the first time since week one, San Antonio eclipsed 100 rushing yards in a game (111). The running game was led by running back Jacques Patrick who finished the game with 82 rushing yards on 15 carries. Most of Patrick's rushing yards came during crunch time, as 50 of his 82 yards came in the fourth quarter, inclduing a season long 32-yard run with under four minutes to go in the game. Dual threat quarterback Jawon Pass also added over 20 rushing yards of his own in the first half.

Behind the Line

In the win, San Antonio totaled a season high 12 tackles for loss. Linebacker Delontae Scott also recorded two sacks, inl- cuding a strip sack that resulted in the Brahma's first defensive touchdown of the year. Linebacker Drew Beesley also added a sack of his own that resulted in a six yard loss. Jordan Williams led the team with a team high 14 total tackles and three tackles for a loss.

Turnover Tenny

With 14 seconds to go and the game on the line, Tenny Adewusi picked off Arlington quarterback Drew Plitt to earn his second interception in two weeks. The interception marked the fifth straight game the Brahmas have recorded at least one intercpetion. Adewusi now is the only defensive back on the Brahmas with multiple interceptions.
