Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
2004 Training Camp will be at Dr Pepper StarCenter Euless Brahmas will use Mid Cities facility for training camp and alternate practice site
Fort Worth- The Fort Worth Brahmas have decided on a home for their 2004 Training Camp. The Brahmas will conduct their ten-day long training camp this season at the Dr Pepper StarCenter Euless.
The Dr Pepper StarCenter Euless, located at 1400 South Pipeline in Euless, will also serve as the Brahmas' alternate practice site (when the Fort Worth Convention Center ice is not available) throughout the 2004-2005 CHL season.
The Brahmas' 2004 Training Camp will begin on Monday, October 11 and continue through Thursday, October 21.
All on ice practice sessions will be open to the public and free of charge. A complete schedule (subject to change) can be found on the third page of this press release.
Al Sims, the Brahmas second year head coach, encourages Brahmas fans and supporters to come out and watch his club's practice sessions.
"I want to see our fans out at our training camp. Training camp is an exciting time, and I want our fans to be a part of the excitement. The Dr Pepper StarCenter Euless is centrally located, easy to get to, and is a first class facility. I really hope that we will have some people come out and watch our practice sessions," Sims stated.
The Brahmas training camp this season should be very competitive, as Sims expects to have between 25-28 players in camp competing for 17 or 18 spots on the team's season opening roster.
"The players that come in and compete hard will be the guys you see on our season opening roster. I have purposely increased the number of players in our camp to make players have to compete for roster spots. It's going to be a competitive ten days, I can promise you that," said Sims.
Sims will have two exhibition games as part of training camp to use in his evaluation process. The Brahmas will travel to Oklahoma City to face off against the Blazers in the Ford Center on Friday, October 15 at 7:35 p.m. Oklahoma City will then come to Fort Worth the next night, Saturday, October 16 to meet the Brahmas at 7:00 p.m. in the Deja Blue arena at the Dr Pepper StarCenter Frisco. Game tickets for the Saturday, Oct. 16 game in Frisco are on sale now at the Brahmas' team office (817-336-4423). All tickets for that game are just $6 (general admission seating only).
Following training camp, the Brahmas will open their 2004-2005 CHL season on Friday, October 22, at the Century-Tel Arena in Bossier City, Louisiana against one of their division rivals, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. Fort Worth will play their first three games of this season on the road before returning home to the Fort Worth Convention Center on Saturday, Oct. 30 for their 2004-2005 home opener, also against the Mudbugs.
