Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (July 17)- Another addition to the Brahmas roster has been made as the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced the signing of forward Andrew Leach for the 2008-09 season on Thursday.

Leach, 27, comes to the Brahmas having played two years of professional hockey. Last season the Altamont, New York native played with the Trenton Devils of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and posted 21 points (8 G, 13 A) in 57 games.

The gritty forward played in the United Hockey League (UHL-now the International Hockey League) for the 2006-07 season as a member of the Kalamazoo Wings and Elmira Jackals. In 61 games Leach collected 19 points (7 G, 12 A) and 56 penalty minutes.

Prior to going pro, Leach skated for the University of New Hampshire of the NCAA (Division I), from 2002-2006. He played 93 games as a Wildcat notching 16 points (6 G, 10 A).

The 6-foot-1, 205 pound winger played 89 games in the United States Hockey League (USHL-Juniors) with the Des Moines Buccaneers. Leach had 18 points (6 G, 12 A) and 115 penalty minutes in his two seasons with the Buccaneers.

Texas Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong believes Leach's style of play will compliment the Brahmas.

"Every team needs a grinder, and while we were recruiting, Leach seemed to fit that role. His size and skill will definitely be valuable assets to the team," said Wildfong.

Leach becomes the fourth Brahmas signed during the offseason, joining Lance Galbraith, Brett Jaeger and Mike Vellinga.

The Texas Brahmas 2008-09 regular season schedule will be released tomorrow afternoon. For season tickets to watch Andrew Leach and the Brahmas in October please contact the Brahmas offices at (817) 336-4423.
