With the score knotted at 3-3 in the bottom of the tenth inning, Brad Corley drove a line-drive single to deep center field to score Stephen Chapman from second, and gave the North Shore Honu the 4-3 victory over the Honolulu Sharks tonight at Hans L'Orange Park.

North Shore improved to a league-best 10-4 mark, and maintained its 6 ½ game HWB West lead over the West Oahu CaneFires who defeated the Waikiki BeachBoys, 8-2, in the day's early game. Chapman led the Honu at the dish with three hits, while teammate Michael Griffin collected two base knocks including a triple.

Three North Shore pitchers combined to limit Honolulu (7-6-1) to four hits. Reliever Charles Benoit (2-0, 1.69 ERA) picked up the win after tossing the final 1 1/3 innings without allowing a hit, and striking out two. Sharks reliever Kris Medlen took the loss, as he allowed Chapman to reach base with a single to lead off the tenth inning.

Both squads return to Hans L'Orange Park tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. for the second game of a three-game set.
