'Boys in Blue' Pay Visit to JU Tuesday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Armada FC will head across town on Tuesday to take on local NCAA Division I team Jacksonville University at Southern Oak Stadium.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and admission is $10. Advance tickets can be purchased by calling 904.256.7863. Walk-up tickets will be available for purchase on a cash-only basis at the Southern Oak Stadium box office starting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Youth soccer players from area teams will receive free admission by wearing their club's jersey. There will also be a halftime raffle with a chance to win Armada FC and JU merchandise.

The Armada and Dolphins met for the first time in series history on March 25, 2015, at Southern Oak Stadium. Propelled by goals from Akeil Barrett and Jemal Johnson, the Armada came out on top, 2-0. Barrett notched a team-high seven shots, including three on goal, while goalkeeper Sebastian Evers played the entire second half and saved JU's lone shot on goal.

The Armada got its first match win away from Jacksonville in club history last Wednesday in a 2-1 decision over North American Soccer League expansion side Miami FC on the campus of St. Thomas University. Midfielder Junior Sandoval put the Armada on the board just two minutes into the affair, and Johnson netted the deciding goal when he converted on a penalty kick in the 87th minute.

Coached by Armada broadcast analyst Mauricio Ruiz, the Dolphins finished 3-1-12 (W-D-L) overall last year and 1-4 (W-L) in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
