
Boulders Rally from 7-1 Deficit to Down ValleyCats

Rockland County, NY - Austin Dennis' single in the bottom of the ninth scored Giovanni Garbella with the winning run and completed a comeback from a six-run deficit as the host New York Boulders downed the Tri-City ValleyCats, 8-7, on Saturday at Clover Stadium in Pomona.
Garbella had reached with one out in the bottom of the ninth when his grounder to third base was errantly thrown to first by Juan Silverio.
Francisco Del Valle followed with a single to left that moved Garbella to second.
Dennis then lined a single to left that was bobbled by ValleyCats' outfielder Carson McCusker, the misplay allowing Garbella to score the winning run.
The victory was the fourth in a row for New York,
Dan Goggin pitched a perfect ninth to pick up the win for New York. He is 1-0 on the year.
Adam Hofacket was tagged with the loss for Tri-City, He fell to 6-3 on the season.
The Boulders trailed 7-1 after 3 1/2 innings, then chipped away with two runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh frames to eventually knot the game at 7-7.
In the fourth, bases loaded walks to Dennis and Steven Figueroa off Tri-City starter Joey Gonzalez cut the Boulders' deficit to 7-3. Two innings later, a Chris Kwitzer double against ValleyCats' reliever Jake Dexter and an RBI single by Del Valle off of Oddy Nunez, the third Tri-City pitcher on the night, left the home team down 7-5.
The Boulders completed their comeback in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Dennis and a single by Del Valle against Trey Cochran-Gill, the fifth ValleyCats' pitcher, with both runs charged to Jose Cruz.
New York had opened the scoring on a first inning sacrifice fly by Garbella.
However, Tri-City anwered with four runs in the top of the second - the big blow being a bases loaded, three-run double by Brantley Bell. That was followed by an RBI triple by Jesus Lujano that gave the 'Cats a 4-1 lead.
Tri-City increased their advantage to 7-1 in the fourth on a three-run home run by McCusker, his second of the season.
