Windy City ThunderBolts News Release

CRESTWOOD, IL - The Florence Y'alls broke open a late tie with six runs over the final three innings to beat the ThunderBolts 7-2 at Ozinga Field Friday night.

Sebastian Selway made his first career start for the Bolts (14-16) and was outstanding, holding a tough Florence offense at bay over the first six innings.

Jonaiker Villalobos was even better for the Y'alls (12-18). He didn't allow a hit until there were two outs in the bottom of the fifth. By that point, his team had taken the lead. Former ThunderBolt Joe Lytle hit a solo homer in the top of that inning.

The one-run deficit was erased by the ThunderBolts in the sixth. Back-to-back walks and a sacrifice bunt set up Dan Robinson for a sacrifice fly. That made the score 1-1, which it remained until the seventh, when Florence broke out.

The Y'alls used three hits and two errors to pile four runs on in the seventh and pulled away further in the eighth as the Bolts committed two more errors.

Windy City plated one more run on a Jace Mercer RBI single in the bottom of the seventh but they weren't able to mount any further rally.

Villalobos (3-2) allowed only one hit and one run over six innings in beating the ThunderBolts for the second time in a week. Neil Abbatiello (1-2) gave up four runs (three earned) in 0.2 innings and took the loss in relief. Selway's final stat line showed one run over 5.2 innings in a no decision.

Game Two of the series will be played on Beatles Night at Ozinga Field on Saturday. The 6:05 first pitch will be preceded by a 4:15 concert from Beatles tribute band Kaleidoscope Eyes. The game will be followed by a fireworks show. Garrett Christman (0-1, 4.78) gets the start against Florence's Grant Hockin (0-0, 9.24). The broadcast can be found at wcthunderbolts.com.
