Boulders, Jackals Split Doubleheader

After falling behind 9-0 through a half inning of play, Rockland pulled off an incredible comeback and defeated New Jersey 13-10 in game one of a doubleheader. The Boulders scored seven runs in the second to cut the deficit to 9-7 and then outscored the Jackals 6-1 over the final 3 1/2 innings to nail down the win.

Rockland pounded out 12 hits in the contest and was led by CF Mike Montville who went 3-for-3 with two home runs, three runs scored and four RBIs. Boulders RF Conor Bierfeldtcontributed three hits, including a blast, two runs and an RBI while C Marcus Nidiffer added a pair of home runs of his own and four runs batted in. In total, Rockland launched six home runs and that tied a league record for most home runs hit in a single game (North Shore, 2005).

Boulders pitcher Tommy Lawrence tossed 5 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn his second win of the year. Lawrence gave up only three hits while striking out six in 54 pitches.

For New Jersey in the loss, 1B Daniel Canela had a 2-for-4 game with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI.

With the score tied at 1-1 through four innings of play, New Jersey took control and tallied five runs over their final three trips to the plate in rolling past Rockland 6-3 in game two of the twinbill.

The Jackals were led at the plate by DH Nolan Meadows who went 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. New Jersey 2B Seth Spivey drove in a pair of runs in a 1-for-3 game while the 1-2-3 hitters of LF Connor Hofmann, 3B Taylor Oldham and 1B Daniel Canela each collected a hit and scored a run. The Jackals had six total hits.

New Jersey starting pitcher Ricky Schafer gave up three earned runs over 5 1/3 innings of work to notch his first victory. Schafer gave two hits and a walk while fanning 10 batters.

For the Boulders, C Jason Agresti had a 3-for-3 game with two home runs and two RBIs.
