Boston Lobsters News Release

July 22, BOSTON, MA- Nearly every match during their entire season has hinged on only a few points won or lost, but last night in front of an enthusiastic hometown crowd of over 1,750 fans, the Boston Lobsters had things fall their way, stinging the New York Buzz 20-19. The final outcome rested squarely upon the shoulders of Boston's mixed doubles combo of Amir Hadad and Nicole Pratt, who proved up to the challenge, winning 7-4 in a Supertiebreaker overtime.

Todd Martin, making his third appearance for the Lobsters in his WTT debut season fell 5-2 to New York's Scott Lipsky in the opening match. The Buzz then flew out to a 10-5 lead after winning the women's doubles 5-2, before Boston regained control with Martin and Amir Hadad teaming to win the men's doubles 5-2 and pulling the Lobsters within two games of New York.

In one of her home match best performances of the season, Lobster Nicole Pratt (following up on wins in women's singles and mixed doubles over Martina Hingis the previous night in Westchester, NY) scored a thrilling 5-2 win over Viktoriya Kutuzova to wrestle a 15-14 lead for her team.

The final event of the evening paired Pratt and Haddad against Lipsky and Julie Ditty with the crowd on the edges of their seats for every point. The action was fast and furious, ultimately coming down to a win by the Buzz duo in a tiebreaker. With the team score tied at 19-all, the match was forced into a Supertiebreaker to determine the ultimate victor for the night. Hadad and Pratt put on a dazzling display of skill and determination to take the Supertiebreaker 7-3 and clinch the match for the Lobsters.
