Boston Lobsters Announce 2012 Match Dates

Boston Lobsters News Release
World TeamTennis (WTT) announced the schedule for its 37th season today, and the Boston Lobsters will kick off their 2012 campaign with a home match against the Sacramento Capitals on July 9 at Ferncroft Country Club's Joan Norton Stadium in Middleton. Billie Jean King is the co-founded WTT in 1974 and has been an innovator in the sports world and featues teams across the country each summer. Since the League's debut, virtually every major champion of the Open era has played World TeamTennis.
The match is one of 14 that last through July 28, capped by a trip to Sacramento for the final contest of the regular season. If the Lobsters make the postseason for the third year in a row, it will take place in Charleston, S.C. between September 14-16.
The Lobsters have seven home matches, three of which are scheduled to feature marquee players. On Monday, July 23, John Isner returns for his third season with the Lobsters as they take on the Philadelphia Freedoms. Isner is currently rated the No. 11 men's singles player in the world and the second-ranked American, having recently defeated Switzerland's Roger Federer in Davis Cup play.
Isner will also be in the fold for the Lobsters when they travel to face the New York Sportimes on July 24.
Also coming in for Lobsters home matches will be Lindsay Davenport for the Orange County Breakers on Tuesday, July 17 and Martina Hingis for the New York Sportimes on Sunday, July 22. Davenport is a past world No. 1 and former American Olympian, while Hingis was also a world No. 1 and Swiss Olympian.
The Lobsters will also have home matches on July 13 against the defending WTT-champion Washington Kastles, July 15 against the Springfield Lasers and July 18 against the Kansas City Explorers. Other Lobsters road matches include: July 11 at the Philadelphia Freedoms; July 16 at the Washington Kastles; July 19 at the New York Sportimes; July 25 at the Philadelphia Freedoms; and July 27 at the Orange County Breakers.
The Boston Lobsters are planning an Olympic themed season and will be featuring current and past Olympians in tennis and other sports at the venue with more details to be announced in the near future.
