Boston Deals for All-Star Josh Sanderson

Boston, MA The Boston Blazers have acquired Josh Sanderson, a six-time All-Pro and the 2009 Champion's Cup Most Valuable Player from the Calgary Roughnecks in exchange for defenseman Jon Harnett, transition Kyle Ross, forward Daryl Veltman, and the Blazers third overall pick in the 2010 entry draft. Boston also picks up Calgary's seventh overall pick in the 2010 entry draft with the trade.

With the trade, Doug Reffue, Boston Blazers President and General Manager has now built an offensive line that features Sanderson, the league's leader in points (104) last season, Dan Dawson, the NLL's 2009 Most Valuable Player, and the 2010 NLL MVP and seven-time All-Star, Casey Powell.

"Josh will be a tremendous asset to our team this season," said Reffue. "He is an unselfish and gifted leader that will fit well with our organization. Between Dawson, Powell, and Sanderson, our fans will certainly be in for an action-packed opening night."

The 33-year-old native of Orangeville, Ontario is a thirteen year veteran with a career point total of 1022 (349 goals, 673 assists). Sanderson began his playing career with the Rochester Knighthawks before moving to the Albany Attack where he led in scoring for four consecutive seasons as well as set a league record in 2002 for most assists in a season (68).

In 2005, following a season with the San Jose Stealth, Sanderson was acquired by the Toronto Rock in a six-player deal. With the Rock, Sanderson won a NLL championship and broke his own single-assists record with 71. Calgary made a move for Sanderson in 2008 with whom he won the 2009 NLL Championship and again broke his assists record along with Dawson with 74.
