Boston Breakers Call up Goalkeeper Paige Burnett

HANOVER, Mass. (May 6, 2015) - The Boston Breakers announced today that goalkeeper Paige Burnett has been named to the roster as an amateur call-up.

The 22-year-old from Placentia, Calif. was a four-year starter at Northeastern University in Boston. There, the 5-foot, 10-inch keeper earned several accolades, including being named to the Colonial Athletic Association First Team and NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region First Team in 2014.

Burnett had a record-setting season as a senior last fall, setting the single-season mark for shutouts (16) and goals against average (0.38). She also played 2,147 minutes, fourth most in the nation. During her four-year career at Northeastern, Burnett won 37 games, registered 30 shutouts, and a 1.18 goals-against-average.

Burnett played in one preseason match for the Breakers in 2015, combining with goalkeeper Jami Kranich on a 5-0 shutout against the Jamaican Women's National Team.

During the summer of 2014, Burnett played for the Boston Breakers College Academy team in the Women's Premier Soccer League, where she posted a record of 7-1-2.

The Breakers play the Chicago Red Stars on Saturday, May 9, at Toyota Park in Naperville, Ill. They return home Saturday, May 16, to take on Portland Thorns FC.
