Boston Blazers News Release
Philadelphia, PA (February 13, 2009) - The Boston Blazers began their three game road swing in convincing fashion, defeating the Wings 8-4 in front of 9,006 fans at Wachovia Center on Friday night. The Blazers jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back, as Anthony Cosmo and the Blazers defense held the Wings scoreless for 40-plus minutes, grabbing a 7-1 lead in the fourth quarter.
The Wings outscored the Blazers 3-1 in the waning minutes to avoid breaking a handful of undesirable records. The least amount of goals scored by a team in a game was two (three in regular season).
Cosmo finished with 33 saves and allowed just four goals (89.2% save percentage).
Jason Bloom led the Blazers with three goals, while Dan Dawson scored twice. Daryl Veltman, Matt Lyons and Nick Cotter added singles.
Matt Bocklet, Sean Thomson, Drew Westervelt and Kyle Wailes scored the goals for Philadelphia.
Boston (4-3) continues its three-game road swing next weekend when it travels west to meet the Minnesota Swarm next Friday at Xcel Energy Center and the Calgary Roughnecks on Sunday at the Saddledome. Philadelphia (2-5) hosts the Swarm on Saturday at Wachovia Center.
