Wings Prove to be Unlucky on Friday the 13th

February 13, 2009 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Goaltending and defense dominated the evening as the Boston Blazers swept the season series with the Wings by defeating Philadelphia 8-4. Boston's Anthony Cosmo stopped 33 of 37 shots while Philadelphia's Brandon Miller made 48 saves on 56 shots.

"We never got going on offense tonight," said Head Coach Dave Huntley. "I thought we limited their quality chances in the second half but they kept it up the whole game."

The majority of the scoring took place in the first 15 minutes of play as Boston scored the game's first four goals. Philadelphia was able to put one past Anthony Cosmo, but that would be their only score of the first half. Boston would add two more in the second quarter to go into the half with a 6-1 lead. Boston's Cosmo stopped 15 of 16 shots through two quarters.

The third quarter was a showdown between Brandon Miller and Anthony Cosmo in net, with each stopping all shots that came their way. Miller turned away 12 while Cosmo saved eight. The Wings would score three goals in the final period of play, but it was not enough to overtake Boston. The fourth was Cosmo's worst quarter on the night but he still made nine saves. Philadelphia'S one shining star continued his great netminding with nine stops on 11 shots. Boston came out on top with the final score 8-4.
