Bo's Blast Leads to Doubleheader Sweep

Springfield, MO - The Arkansas Travelers swept a doubleheader from the Springfield Cardinals, winning 3-1 and 6-4 on Monday night at Hammons Field.

In game two, trailing 4-3 in the sixth, CF Bo way launched a two-run opposite-field home run, his first in Double-A, to put Arkansas up for good.

The Travs countered three separate deficits in the second game. Arkansas trailed 1-0 after one, 3-1 through two, and 4-3 after four innings.

1B Eric Aguilera finished 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI after having his 10-game hitting streaked snapped after game one.

3B Andrew Daniel, who entered the second part of the doubleheader hitting .466 over his previous 19 games, blasted his fourth home run of the season in the second inning.

RHP DJ Johnson made his first professional start and worked three innings and allowed three runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

LHP Tyler DeLoach (W, 3-1) made his first appearance since being recalled from AAA-Salt Lake and worked two innings to earn the victory. The southpaw struck out four.

RHP Eduardo Paredes (S, 1) became the 10th Travelers pitcher to notch a save this season. He worked two scoreless frames and struck out two.

In game one, RHP Jordan Kipper (W, 8-5) tossed a complete game and allowed the one run on four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.

2B Tim Arakawa picked up his first two Arkansas hits with a leadoff double in the first and RBI single in the 7th. He also stole a base.

Daniel finished game one 2-for-3 with a double and run scored.

Arkansas stole five bases over the two games.

With the sweep, the Travs improved to 42-51 on the season and 10-13 in the second half, and moved to within 3.5 games of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals for first place in the second half Texas League North standings. Arkansas and Springfield will play game four of the five-game series on Tuesday night at Hammons Field.
