
Boron Backstops Rush to Weekend Sweep of Thunder

(Rapid City, SD) - Saturday night, the Rapid City Rush and the Wichita Thunder met for the third consecutive game at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena. The Rush were lead by stellar goaltending by Tim Boron, turning away 42 shots en route to a 3-1 victory. The next home game is Friday, January 18th as the Rush take host the Missouri Mavericks at 7:05pm. Tickets are available at www.gotmine.com or by calling 716-7825.
The Rush struck first for the second straight night as Kyle Peto would notch his 5th goal of the season with a slapshot off a centering pass from Damian Surma at 8:44 giving the Rush a one goal lead by first intermission.
Midway through the second frame, the Rush PK unit doubled the lead as Scott Wray tallied his 11th of the season with a shorthanded goal on a 2-on-1 break with Jared Brown at the 9:14 mark. The Thunder answered with a goal by RG Flath at 6:28 to cut the lead in half.
Jarrett Konkle wasted no time in the third frame, deflecting in his team leading 17th goal of the season just 1:56 into the period off a shot from defensemanby Jordan Behler who would be credited with his fourth assist this year. Tim Boron would continue his dominance in net turning away 16 shots in the third and 42 overall to lift the Rush to a 3-1 win.
