Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Euless, TX - In what became a back and forth contest between the Brazos Valley Bombers and Texas Marshals, the Bombers came out on top 8-7. This is the Bombers 7th consecutive victory, their last loss coming in the series finale against the Texarkana Twins over a week ago.

The Bombers offense got going early, scoring three runs, capped off by a RBI single from Christian Sepulveda. Sam McElreath would then extend the lead hitting his first home run of the 2018 season to give the Bombers a 4-0 lead. Starter Brad Verel ran into some trouble in the bottom of the third inning, allowing the Marshals to cut the lead in half. In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Marshals jumped into the lead off a three run inning. The Bombers would not go down easy, as they bounced back in the 7th inning, with a squeeze single by Kyle Bergeron bringing in the tying run and a fielder's choice giving the Bombers a 6-5 lead. The Marshals continued the seesaw battle, tying the game in their half of the 7th inning. The Bombers would finally score two runs in the 8th inning to take a 8-6 lead. The Marshals in the bottom half of the inning would continue to fight but their rally would come up just short, only scoring one run before the Bombers bullpen shut the team down.

Controversy arose during the 7th inning, when after a safe call made on a steal attempt by the Marshals, was questioned by Manager Brian Nelson. During the conversation between the Bombers Manager and the home plate umpire, Bombers Pitching Coach James Dillard was ejected for being outside of the dugout.

The Bombers will finish up the two games series against the Texas Marshals on Tuesday before the Bombers return home for a two-game series June 6th, against the Victoria Generals.
