Bryan/College Station, TX - The Bombers announced Wednesday the addition of two juniors from Penn State and Texas Lutheran. Jacob Padilla, catcher from Penn State, and Tyler Cauley, outfielder from Texas Lutheran, will join the Bombers for the 2019 summer season.

Padilla transferred to Penn State from Murray State College in Oklahoma. At Murray State, Padilla was named to Region II All-Region First Team twice and NJCAA Division II First-Team All-American for his sophomore season. Padilla was also awarded the Region II Player of the Year and Gold Glove Award for his sophomore season. Padilla started 23 games for the Nittany Lions in 2019. Padilla's reliability behind the plate made him an excellent addition to the Bombers' roster.

"Padilla's going to be an extremely valuable asset for us," says Head Coach Brian Nelson of Padilla. "He's a mature and experienced catcher, and that's exactly what you want for a guy that's going to be helping handling our pitching staff every day. Plus, he swings a pretty heavy stick, so he's going to be a good player to put right into the lineup every day for us."

Cauley, a Houston-area native, comes to the Bombers from Texas Lutheran, where he earned a host of awards. Cauley was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year in 2017. Building on an impressive freshman season, Cauley was selected to the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Third Team and both the All-Region and All-Conference First Teams after leading the conference in home runs and RBI and placing in the top five for batting average. Cauley led the SCAC in RBI with 47 and landed in the top three in the conference in slugging percentage, home runs and on-base percentage on his way to a 2019 All-SCAC First Team selection.

"When we got the call about Tyler, [we were] super excited," says Nelson. "This kid can just flat-out hit. He's got some serious power. He hits for average. Big kid, but actually moves really well out in the outfield. We're excited about getting this guy. He's a phenomenal human being, too, so he's going to be a great locker room guy for us."
