
Bombers Victorious over the Strykers Now Look to Handle the Aces

The Bombers (7-4 in the second half) opened up their three game home stand tonight with a game against The Woodlands Strykers. The Bombers received contributions from all aspects of the team in the 7-2 victory in front of a packed house at American Momentum Bank Ballpark.
The Bombers' first run of the evening came in the second inning. Third baseman Brennyn Smith led the inning off with a single. Smith then moved up to second on a single by left fielder Brandon Wood. Smith then moved up to third on a pass ball and then came home to score on a sacrifice fly from second baseman, Corey Toups. The big inning for the Bombers came in the sixth inning when they scored four runs. Right fielder Myles Parma led the inning off with a walk and James Wharton followed with a single. Smith came to the plate and laid down a sacrifice that moved the runners up, but Parma was able to come home and score on a Stryker error. With Wharton at third, Wood came up and knocked a single that scored Wharton that made the score 3-1 Bombers. Designated hitter, Braden Mattson followed with a single that brought Smith in to make the score 4-1. The final run of the inning came on a fielder's choice hit by Toups that scored Wood. The Strykers got a run in the top of the seventh that made the score 5-2 Bombers. The Bombers would respond with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Center fielder Chris Florack would get on first after the Stryker catcher dropped the ball on a third strike. With Parma at the plate, Florack would steal both second and third bases. Florack would score on an error on the Stryker catcher. Parma would get on base with a single and would come home on a single by Smith that made the score 7-2.
H&R Block Never Settle For Less Player of the Game, Ryan Santhon started on the mound for the Bombers. Santhon pitched six solid innings giving up one run while recording three strikeouts. Derek Mazzio would come into the game for two innings. Mazzio gave up two hits and recorded one strikeout. Nick Johnson came in for the ninth inning and recorded a strikeout.
The Bombers defense was one their toes tonight making good plays throughout the game when the team need breaks and help the pitching staff get out of jams.
The Bombers now play host to the Alexandria Aces. The series with the Aces will kick off with a Kids Free Saturday by Chicken Express! It will be Western Night at the ballpark that night and there will also be a KABOOM Bobble head giveaway!
