Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Victoria, TX - Bombers fall in a hard-fought game to split the series on the road in Victoria Friday with a final score of 8-10. In an attempt to sweep the series against the Generals, the Bombers started off strong but fell to the Generals in the final innings of the game.

The Bombers take an early lead in the second inning due to the Generals pitcher struggling to find the zone. In the third inning, the Bombers took advantage and got runners on base which led to Bryant Shellenbarger scoring on a wild pitch, Tyler Cauley driving in Chase Kemp and Jordan Yeatts with a single, Sam McElreath scoring by an error of the General's second baseman, and Cole Coker driving in Jacob Padilla with a triple. Bombers go into the fourth inning with a 7-0 lead.

Victoria gained one back in the bottom of the 4th and scored three in the 6th adjusting the lead to 7-4. Scoring one more run in the 7th inning the Generals then came back fighting in the bottom of the 8th to score five runs against the Bombers. The Bombers bullpen struggled to find the strike zone issuing nine free passes in three innings of work. Unfortunately, the Bombers were unable to respond and the Generals take the game with a final score of 8-10.

The Bombers were led at the plate by Tyler Cauley who went 2-4 with two RBI's as well as Cole Coker and Sam McElreath having a productive day at the plate both going 2-4 and Coker getting an RBI off of his triple. Hunter Dobbins, Jacob Padilla, and Tyler Smith were also able to contribute RBI's to the final score.

Hunter Dobbins pitched five innings getting the no-decision despite throwing eight strikeouts and allowing only three hits. Joe Buckendorff accepted tonight's loss allowing five runs in the eighth inning.

The Bombers will be headed to Baton Rouge to face the Baton Rouge Rougarou on July 15, 2019. The first pitched is scheduled for 7:05 pm barring any cancellations due to inclement weather.
