Bryan-College Station - The Bombers didn't let a Saturday night power outage slow them down as they swept the Sunday doubleheader against the Victoria Generals by scores of 3-2 and 7-1.
Game one started in the bottom of the fifth with the bases loaded for the Bombers with Alex Samples up to bat in a tie game. Samples worked a full count before belting a single that plated Riley Schaefer for his 10th RBI of the year. That would be all Brazos Valley would need as Garrett Hofstead and Riley McCauley shutdown the Generals in the final four frames.
In the nightcap, the Bombers bats came alive as Michigan State's Zack McGuire went 4-for-4 with a double and a mammoth 3-run homer in the bottom of the seventh. The home run was McGuire's first of the year. Anthony Samples and Spencer Hemphill each had an RBI and starter Brett Seeburger pitched six shutout innings to pick up his first win of the year.
After the game Bombers fans participated in a Apple Watch field rush where one lucky patron walked away with a watch, courtesy of C&C Lawn and Irrigation.
The Bombers will get two days of rest before traveling to Plano to take on the Texas Marshals for two games. Brazos Valley returns to Nutrabolt Stadium on Friday June 24th for Superhero Night and Post Game Fireworks presented by TEEK. As part of Superhero Night the Bombers players will wear Captain America jerseys which will be auctioned off during the game.
