Brazos Valley Bombers News Release
Lafayette, LA (June 25, 2015) - After two consecutive games of scoring double-digit runs at home, the Brazos Valley Bombers continued their hot streak with another tremendous offensive performance tonight, defeating the second-place Acadiana Cane Cutters by a score of 12-3. The Bombers have now scored 45 runs in their last three games.
Leadoff hitter and centerfielder Mark Whitehead set the tone for the Bombers' offense tonight, going 3-5 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, and three runs scored. On the pitching side, Andre Shewcraft came on in the 4th inning to relieve starter and fellow UTSA Roadrunner, Chance Kirby to earn his first win of the season.
Tonight's victory improves the Bombers record to 15-4 and clinches a playoff berth. A win tomorrow would clinch the first-half championship for the Bombers and give them home-field advantage in the TCL playoffs in August.
Tomorrow the Bombers will look to complete the sweep against the Cane Cutters; as well as clinch a first-half title that would give them home-field advantage in the TCL playoffs. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
The Bombers will return home to Cellucor Field to begin another two-game homestand on Saturday night with Superhero Night, presented by TEEX, featuring special superhero-themed uniforms to be worn by the Bombers players. Saturday night will also be Kids Free Saturday, with children 13 and under receiving free admission into the ballpark thanks to Chicken Express; as well as the fourth fireworks extravaganza of the 2015 season, presented by BTU.
