Springfield Sliders News Release
The Dubois County Bombers scored five runs in the final two innings to come back and beat the Springfield Sliders tonight, 7-4, at Robin Roberts Stadium. The Bombers took the lead in the first inning after Sliders' starter Brandon Shaw walked three of the first four hitters he faced to produce a run. After that, Shaw would settle in nicely, not giving up a hit until the sixth inning. The Sliders' tied the game at one on an RBI triple by C Matt Stevens and then took the lead in the third on a sacrifice fly by 1B Matt Tellor to score RF Jake Bergren. The Sliders' added two more runs to their lead in the fifth on a two run double by 3B Jake Ingold to make it 4-1. That would be all for Springfield's offense tonight as the Dubois County bullpen shut the Sliders out over the final 4.1 innings, allowing the Bombers to get back into the game. The Bombers' comeback started in the sixth when their first two hits of the game produced a run to cut the lead to 4-2. They would then tie the game in the eighth inning with back to back home runs, the first of which was the last batter faced by Shaw. The first three Bombers would reach in the ninth inning and a couple of seeing eye singles would give the Bombers all the runs they needed to finish Springfield off. These two teams will meet again tomorrow night at League Stadium in Huntingburg, IN in the back end of this home and home series. First pitch is set for 6:15, and the game will be broadcast on the Springfield Sliders' Ustream channel.
