Bombers' Offensive Fireworks Pave Way to Fourth of July Victory
July 4, 2015 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Brazos Valley Bombers News Release
Dallas, TX - After a dominant shutout victory over the Generals on Friday night in Victoria, the Bombers looked to set the tone for the next series against the Texas Marshals at Reverchon Park in Dallas on Saturday night.
The Bombers and Marshals were locked in a 6-6 draw heading into the 9th inning, but the team rose to the occasion in crunch time as it has all season long. The Bombers struck for four runs in the top of the 9th inning to win on Saturday night by a score of 10-6. Centerfielder Matt Hilston continued his hot streak at the plate, going 2-5 with a double, a home-run, and 5 RBI. With those 5 RBI, Hilston is now the TCL leader in that category with 21 on the season.
Pitcher C.J. Gregory has been masterful all season long and Saturday night he won his seventh game this season on the mound for the Bombers, moving him into a tie for the second-most wins in a season in TCL history. One more victory for Gregory would move him into a first-place tie with former Bomber Brian Borski for the TCL record.
The boys in Bomber Blue and Vegas Gold will finish the two-game series against the Marshals on Sunday night before the TCL All-Star Break on July 6-8.
The home portion of the second-half for the Bombers will begin on July 9 against the Acadiana Cane Cutters. July 9 will be "9 Innings of Winnings," presented by Scoots; with prizes given away every inning as well as a scooter giveaway. July 9 also falls on a Thursday which means Thirsty Thursday: when beer; margaritas; and soft drinks are one dollar, thanks to Western Beverages.
