Dubois County Bombers News Release

HUNTINGBURG, Ind. - The Dubois County Bombers and the City of Huntingburg had a bit of a misunderstanding about the Bombers' ability to host a fireworks display after Saturday, July 28's game vs. the Hannibal Cavemen.

The Bombers will NOT be having fireworks, and they apologize for the confusion.

"We thought it was a one-step process," said John Bigness, principal owner of the Bombers. "We thought that as soon as we had the permits ready we were good to go. You actually need to have the permits ready and have the burn ban lifted, which has not happened."

According to Bigness, Mayor Denny Spinner was quite supportive of the Bombers having fireworks but cannot allow them until the state of Indiana lifts the burn ban.

"He told me he's love for us to be able to have fireworks, but he can't because it's up to the state," Bigness said.

So the situation is this: The Bombers are not having fireworks until the burn ban is lifted, so there will not be fireworks this weekend, despite prior reports to the contrary.

However, if the state lifts the burn ban by the time of the August 7 playoff game, the Bombers do plan on having fireworks shortly after the conclusion of that game.
