Bombers Lose First Home Game of Season 12-10

The Brazos Valley Bombers continued their season tonight against the Acadiana Cane Cutters. The crowd on hand stood behind the Bombers as the always do even though they lost their first home game tonight in extra innings 12-10.

The Bombers offense came together in the second to score five runs. After third baseman Brennyn Smith hit a single to left field and designated hitter Bobby Butvin took a walk, both were sacrificed over by catcher Kevin Lamb. After right fielder Quinton Urban was hit by a pitch, second baseman Shea Pierce hit a blooper over third base that scored Smith. Shortstop Corey Toups, then drove in Butvin, Pierce and Urban with a 3 run triple to right field. Toups would score on a wild pitch that gave the Bombers five runs in the inning. The offense would score three runs in the seventh inning. Pinch hitter, Chris Florack came to the plate and hit a triple to left field, Florack would come home on a wild pitch from the Cane Cutter pitcher. Left fielder Brandon Wood hit a single that moved Toups to third who had drawn a walk earlier. Toups would score on an error by the Cane Cutter shortstop that allowed first baseman Brad Porras to be safe at first. Wood would come again to score on a wild pitch. The Bombers offense would then put up two more runs in the bottom of the 10th, but couldn't produce any more.

Bombers starter, Mason Justice pitched a solid game. He threw six innings while striking out four Cane Cutters. Relievers Brandon Bergen, Derrick Mazzio, Ryan Ulman and Franco Pace could not keep the Cane Cutter offense from coming back and taking the game 12-10. The Bombers want to take a moment to say thank you and congratulations to Mason Justice. Mason will be leaving the Bombers as he will head to Bowling Green, Kentucky and continue his baseball career at the University of Western Kentucky.
