Bryan-College Station, TX - The Brazos Valley Bombers welcomed local teachers to Cellucor Field Thursday night to celebrate "Teacher Appreciation Night" as they lost 6-3 to the Victoria Generals in 12 innings.

"You saw tonight, there was a lot of fight, a lot of effort," said Curt Dixon, Bombers head coach. "It didn't come out our way but the fight, the effort- the guys stayed motivated all game."

The Generals put up a run in the first inning and added another in the third to take an early 2-0 lead. The Bombers would tie the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth and the game would stay knotted into extra innings.

Victoria would push a run across on an error in the top of the 10th, but College Station native Blake Kopetsky would drive in G.R. Hinsley on a double to even the score.

"It's tough [to stay motivated in a long game] with your body wearing down, but it's easy to stay in the game when it's close and you've got the guys behind you in the dugout," said first baseman G.R. Hinsley.

Bombers closer Cannon Chadwick would strike out four in his three innings of work, but was unable to get out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the 12th as Victoria third baseman Cedric Vallieres hit a bases-clearing double, giving the Generals the win.

"After a win, after a loss, you can't get high, you can't get too low," Dixon said. "That's the good thing about playing six days a week."

The Bombers and the Generals will rematch Friday night at 7:05 p.m. at Cellucor Field, as the Bombers host their first postgame fireworks show of the season. The show will commemorate the anniversary of D-Day and is the first of four postgame fireworks shows the Bombers will host in the month of June- more than any other minor league team in Texas.
