
Bombers Held Scoreless by Trenton, Fall 5-0

Dayton, OH- The Dayton Bombers suffered their first shutout loss of the season, falling 5-0 to the visiting Trenton Devils on Sunday at the Nutter Center.
The Devils managed the lone goal in the first period when Jeremy Akeson put the puck past Bombers netminder Tyler Plante. The Bombers and Devils each fired off 12 shots in the frame, but Dayton was unable to get one in the net.
It was more from Trenton in the second period when Akeson once again scored less than three minutes into the frame for his fourth goal of the season. The Devils made it 3-0 as Matt Cohen slammed a rebound past Plante. After two periods, Trenton was outshooting the Bombers 31-18.
Again in the third it was the Devils who continued their offensive output, netting two more goals in the final frame. Akeson tallied a hat trick with an unassisted goal at 17:55 to seal the game at 5-0.
Plante finished 37 of 42, while Gerald Coleman went 25 of 25 for the Devils.
The Bombers are on the road this week for games on Tuesday and Wednesday at Elmira, then Friday at Trenton and Saturday at Johnstown.
Action returns to the Nutter Center on Tuesday, January 27 against the Elmira Jackals at 7:30 p.m.
