Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan-College Station, TX - The back-to-back TCL Champions showed exactly why they are elite on and off the field. Bouncing back from their performance last night, the Bombers were able to push across five runs and win tonight's series finale against the Acadiana Cane Cutters by a score of 5-1.

The 7th Inning was again kind to the Bombers as they batted around and pushed across four runs. Centerfielder and leadoff hitter Mark Whitehead drilled a two-run double to the left-centerfield gap that sparked the Bombers late-inning rally and plated his first two RBI's of the young season.

The Bombers offense was not the only positive for the team on the night as starting pitcher Mike Walker hurled a masterpiece for his first win of the season. Walker pitched 8 and one-third innings, only allowing three hits and one run while striking out five Cane Cutter hitters.

As wonderful to watch as the hometown Bombers were this evening, the post-game fireworks extravaganza was equally entertaining and awe-inspiring, thanks to TEEX. In addition to the wonderful fireworks, tonight was Bush 41 Night, celebrating President George H.W. Bush's Birthday, sponsored by the George Bush Presidential Library.

The four-game homestand continues tomorrow night as the Bombers will take on the Victoria Generals at 7:05 pm. The Bombers have already swept the Generals once this season and will look to repeat that feat this weekend. Promotions for tomorrow night's ballgame include: Frozen Night, with appearances by Olaf and friends, presented by Fazoli's. It is also Kids Free Saturday, where children 13 and under will be allowed free admission into the ballpark, thanks to Chicken Express.
