Brazos Valley Bombers News Release
Bryan, Texas - The Bombers looked to continue their win streak as they took on the Seguin River Monsters Thursday night at Smokey Joe Williams Park. Jack Hamilton of Texas A&M University took the mound for Brazos Valley in hopes of leading them to their seventh-straight win.
The River Monsters grabbed an early lead in the first two innings off of a couple of big hits by the Seguin hitters. Aggressive baserunning would prove to be a running theme throughout the night for the opposing team, forcing the Bombers defense to make errors normally not made.
The Bombers fight back in the sixth inning, scoring a run off a Kyle Atkinson RBI double, bringing the deficit to only two. The River Monsters responded by scoring a run of their own, when a costly defensive error allowed Dave Wilson to cross the plate. The River Monsters led 4-1 at the end of the sixth.
Seguin had something going in the bottom of the seventh, when Bombers right fielder Brayden Evans made an amazing throw to home to stop the River Monsters from scoring another run and end the inning. This did not stop Seguin from adding on a couple more insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to increase their lead to 6-1.
Key-timed hits and aggressive baserunning for the River Monsters would prove to be detrimental to the Bombers hopes of extending their win streak. A standout performance by Seguin starter Evan Maldonado helped shut down the booming Bombers offense. The game ended with a 6-1 victory for the River Monsters.
The Bombers are back in action at Edible Field on Saturday, June 25 in their first of three at home against the Baton Rouge Rougarous with hopes of extending their terrific home record of 8-1. Come out to the ballpark June 25 for "3D Fireworks Night"!
