Brazos Valley Bombers News Release
Youngsville, LA - The first game in this away series went very well for the Brazos Valley Bombers as they defeated the Cane Cutters on their own turf. Â This is the Bombers fifth win in a row on the season, they hope to continue this success throughout the entire season.
The Bombers first got on the board after the top of the line-up earned a series of hits, knocking in Cole Coker. Coker would score again in the second inning after Kyle Bergeron hit a RBI single. Christian Sepulveda crushed a home run in the 3rd furthering the Bombers lead to 3-0. Sepulveda returned to the plate in the 5th and hit a massive two-run home run over the scoreboard in left field to give the Bombers a 5-0 lead. The Bombers would not be done as they finished their scoring in the 7th inning after Dylan Bonhert came in on an error from the Cane Cutters.
The Bombers pitching were dominant as well tonight. Starting pitcher Cody LeCompte pitched for six innings giving up five hits, three walks, and two runs, striking out 5. LeCompte added to his success being a part of a 1-6-3 double play. In the bottom of the 4th short stop Sepulveda assisted with a huge 6-4-3 double play! In the 5th inning the Cane Cutters got a pair of hits with a pass ball that shook up the Bombers allowing them to score two runs. In the 8th inning the Cane Cutters cut the lead in half, but the Bombers didn't hear from the Cane Cutters offense again for the night.
The Bombers will face the Acadiana Cane Cutters again tomorrow for the series finale at 7:05pm at Fabacher Field. The road trip will continue to Dallas, Texas as the Bombers face the Marshals. The Bombers will return home for a two-game series June 6th, against the Victoria Generals.
