Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan-College Station, TX (April 22, 2015) - The Bombers will welcome current Oklahoma State University (OSU) Cowboys Remey Reid and Jacob Chappell, as well as future OSU Cowboy Garrett Benge to the Brazos Valley this summer.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Remey Reid, a transfer from Navarro Junior College, will suit up in Bomber-blue for the team's 2015 season. Reid has pitched in 29 innings with 18 strikeouts and 4 walks for the OSU Cowboys this spring while posting a 0.93 ERA.

"Remey has had success in whatever role he has been given - starting, closing, relieving," said Curt Dixon, Bombers head coach. "He will give us the chance to win and will compete for us on the mound."

Infielder Jacob Chappell is currently a freshman at Oklahoma State University. During his senior season at Guthrie High School, Chappell hit .469 with five home runs and 40 RBIs. So far this spring, Chappell has started in 32 games and played in 35 with the Cowboys while hitting a solid .271.

"Jacob's glove is what's got him in at a high level at such a young age," Dixon said. "He can really pick it in the infield and he has really held his own at the plate."

Garrett Benge, a freshman at Cowley Community College this year, is set to join the OSU Cowboys for their 2016 season. Currently ranked number one in the country, Benge has led the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in hitting while batting an impressive .556 with 23 doubles, 13 home runs and 75 RBIs.

"I saw Garrett earlier this spring when we played Cowley College and I knew right away that I wanted to make him a Bomber," Dixon said. "We are glad that he chose to be with us and we look for forward to him coming down and being in our everyday lineup."

The Bombers' season starts on May 28 against the Strykers in the Woodlands after securing an 8-1 record against the Strykers in 2014. The Bombers are looking forward to maintaining a strong and talented team as the 2015 season quickly approaches.
