Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan-College Station, TX (June 30, 2015) - After an off-day on Monday, the Brazos Valley Bombers returned to action Tuesday night, defeating the Texas Marshals by a score of 3-2.

The two teams were locked in a closely-contested battle all night long, with the Marshals striking first with a run in the 1st inning and another run in the 5th. However, their lead was not eternal as the Bombers roared back in the 7th and 8th innings to score three runs and defeat the Marshals at Cellucor Field.

Centerfielder and leadoff hitter, Mark Whitehead was named Cellucor Player of the Game after his two-run single tied the game in the 7th inning to complete the comeback. Mark also stole two bases to push his season total to 11. Pitcher C.J. Gregory came on in the 5th inning to relieve starter Mike Walker and pitched two and one-third innings of no-hit baseball with two strikeouts to earn his league-leading sixth win of the season.

The Bombers have already clinched home-field advantage in the playoffs and the first-half championship, the eighth consecutive half-season championship in franchise history; but they continue to assert their dominance on the league with their seventh consecutive win, which improves their record to 19-4.

Tonight was 50-cent Beer Night at the ballpark thanks to Spartan Tutoring, as well as Trophy Tuesday to honor local community members for their recent accomplishments. Tomorrow night the Bombers will be back in action at the friendly confines of Cellucor Field for Salute the Troops Night, presented by Sarge's Moving, with special patriotic-themed jerseys to be worn by the Bombers players during the game. Tomorrow night will also be Weenie Wednesday, with 90-cent hot dogs all night long to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of Citizen State Bank.
