Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan, TEXAS - Fireworks were on display in the sky and on the field as the Brazos Valley Bombers took on the Acadiana Cane Cutters at Edible Field. Patrick Hail was trusted with pitching duties and he provided the Bombers with a respectable outing pitching four innings and only allowing one run.

The Cane Cutters would strike first in the top of the 2nd Inning, but the Bombers would respond with three runs of their own. Brayden Evans scored from first due to a throwing error by the Cane Cutters. Later in the inning, a delayed steal by Ben Harmon would allow just enough room for Kyle Atkinson to follow suit and steal home himself. To close out the scoring in the inning, Ben Harmon would score as a result of a ground ball trickling through the second baseman's legs, capping off the inning with a score of 3-1.

Just before a colorful firework show and an eventful hot dog eating contest, the Bombers returned to their scoring ways and tacked on three more runs. After another error by the Cane Cutters, Cody Oliphant crossed home plate. Garrison Weiss would also go on to score, and Mike Adair would score on a Tyner Hughes sacrifice fly, making the score 6-1.

The Bombers piled more runs on top of the Cane Cutters in the bottom half of the 7th inning. An RBI double from Ben Harmon and another costly error from the Cane Cutters resulted in a 10-2 lead for Brazos Valley.

Great relief pitching from Camden Farmer, Trent Thompkins, and Jacob Morin was enough to close out the game with the final score of 10-2.

With this win, the Bombers clinch the best overall record in the TCL and an opportunity to host a potential championship game. The Bombers will be back at Edible Field on August 3rd for Game 2 of their playoff series against the Victoria Generals.
