Brazos Valley Bombers News Release
Bryan/College Station, Texas - The Brazos Valley Bombers are excited to announce the addition of Robin Adames, Chase Kemp, and Cole Coker to the 2018 Brazos Valley Bombers roster.
Robin Adames is a Junior First Baseman for Lamar University who has been one of the team's best players since he arrived on campus. His Freshman year, he became the first Lamar position player to be named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All American since 1998. That year he led all freshman in the Southland Conference in home runs with six and put together a 20-game on base streak, the second longest in program history. Adames followed that season up with a 2017 campaign that was even better. Adames ranked second on the team with a .344 batting average and led the team in hits and RBIs and third in homeruns with seven. This year Adames is continuing to swing a big bat, leading the team in home runs, runs scored, and slugging percentage and is second in RBI and walks drawn.
Chase Kemp is a Freshman utility player for the Cardinals who comes to Lamar following a strong high school career. This season Kemp has been used all over the field, logging innings in both the infield and outfield, giving the coaches flexibility in constructing their lineups. During his high school career at Nederland High School, Kemp was a star, becoming the District MVP in his freshman season. By the end of his career, Kemp was named All-District his sophomore season, District Hitter of the Year his junior season, and was ranked as one of the top 150 Texas high school prospects by Perfect Game, including a top 20 ranking for Texas high school left-handed pitchers.
Cole Coker is a Sophomore infielder for Lamar who has experience starting at second base and at third. During Coker's freshman season, Coker worked his way to the starting lineup, accumulating 38 starts at second base and designated hitter. In the lineup, Coker held his own, with 38 hits and 25 runs scored. This season, Coker has improved to leading the team in hits with 37 and third on the team in RBIs and runs scored. Coker was also prolific in high school where he hit .500 his senior season and was an First Team All-District honoree.
