June 22, 2023 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Seguin, TX - In an instant classic just 15 minutes from the San Antonio Limits, the TCL's first-place team, the Brazos Valley Bombers, pulled out another impressive victory against the last-place Seguin River Monsters by the final score of 8 to 6 Thursday Night. With the win, the Bombers extend their season-long win streak to five games and complete the two-game sweep of their road trip Wednesday and Thursday.

The offense continued to light up and all cylinders once again, as they could ring in twelve hits to go along with their eight runs. Prominent performers like Designated Hitter Cole Plowman, who went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and a game-tying RBI double in the eighth, as well as First Baseman Simon Llaranga, who launched his second home run of the week and third of the year in a 2 for 5 effort. The pitching for Brazos Valley, while in the midst of an offensive duel, did hold the line for much of the night Thursday in Seguin thanks to three and two-thirds innings of two-run, three-hit baseball from reliever Trent Tompkins and two shoutout performances that shut the door in eighth and ninth for the Bombers from reliever Preston Watkins and Princeton starter Justin Kim.

The Bombers, who are now 12-7 in 2023, remain atop the league and now hold a game-and-a-half lead on both Louisiana clubs, Acadiana and Baton Rouge. Brazos Valley returns home Friday Night, where they will take on a Cane Cutters team coming off a walk-off win at home, as the Bombers look to extend their win streak to six at Edible Field. First Pitch is at 7:05 p.m. Friday Night in Bryan and can be heard on 1150 AM/9.37FM The Zone and seen on TCL TV.
