Bolanos Named to USL League One Week 15 Team of the Week

TAMPA, Fla. - USL League One announced on Monday that Richmond Kickers' forward Jonathan Bolanos was named to the league's team of the week for week 15 following his performance in the Kickers' comeback draw at Charlotte Independence. Bolanos' team of the week-worthy performance is presented by Legends Soccer Co.

Bolanos has been a fixture in the league's weekly honors since returning from injury on May 28. The Miramar, Fla. native makes his fourth appearance in five weeks after earning player of the week honors in week 11 and team of the week honors in week 12 and week 14.

Bolanos is currently nominated for June Player of the Month, and the winner of the award will be announced by the league on Wednesday, July 13.

The match at Charlotte on July 8 saw Bolanos tally his league lead-extending seventh assist. It also marked the seventh straight match the winger has contributed at least one goal or assist in a match - dating back to June 4, 2022.

"Although collectively it wasn't our best performance, I was very happy to be able to contribute and provide an assist on the goal," Bolanos said. "The goal itself was a great finish from Owayne [Gordon] on the back post and it was the spark off the bench that we needed."

On top of the assist, Bolanos thrived against the right side of the Charlotte defense. He led the Kickers with six (6) touches in the opposition box while tying for the team lead with two (2) chances created, and winning 75 percent of his dribbles. Off the ball, Bolanos led the team in duels won (9) while winning over 50 percent of his total duels, and he tied for the team lead with seven (7) instances of winning back possession.

"As a group, we are constantly focused on improving our performance every time we take the field," Bolanos said. "Personally, I've been working on staying consistent to produce more attacking opportunities. Consistency is something I've tried to improve on since I've been with the Kickers and I'm happy to see the results coming together this season."

The Kickers return home to host first-place Greenville Triumph on July 16 for the first matchup of 2022 between the two rivals. The match is set to be the marquee fixture of USL League One's Week 16 as the teams occupy the top two spots in the league table and are separated by only two points. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. During the match, the Kickers will host Pride Night at City Stadium with the club selling tie-dye t-shirts made by Kickers players with proceeds going to Virginia Pride.
