Bode Wilde Returned to Spirit by Islanders

Saginaw, MI. - The New York Islanders of the National Hockey League announced Monday defenseman Bode Wilde has been returned to the Saginaw Spirit for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

Wilde appeared in 20 games this season for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, American Hockey League affiliate of the Islanders, posting two assists and 10 penalty minutes.

Prior to the 2018-19 regular season, Wilde forwent his College commitment to sign with the Saginaw Spirit. He was selected by the Spirit in the second round, 35th overall, in the 2016 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection Draft.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound rearguard led all Spirit defenseman in scoring and finished third in OHL scoring among defenseman during the 2018-19 regular season with 19 goals and 51 assists for 70 points. The Plymouth, Michigan native was voted to the OHL Second All-Star Team by OHL General Managers at the conclusion of the season and was an OHL Defenseman of the Year candidate.
