Bismarck Bobcats News Release
The Bismarck Bobcats are pleased to announce that the first of three tryout camps went very well. The camp was held in Trenton, MI and will be followed by a camp in Prior Lake, MN in June and Arvada, CO in July. The final invitational camp will be held in Bismarck on August 3rd-5th.
From the Trenton camp the Bobcats have invited 10 players out of 50 to the final camp. The invitees are: Blake Hietala, who led the Ojibwa Eagles in scoring with 69 points last season; JD Howard, a young forward who played for the Cleveland Barons AAA midget team; Nate Taurence, who played defense for Little Caesars Midget Major team, along with his twin brother Nick Taurence, who was the Bobcats first pick on Tuesday's NAHL draft. Nick was a forward for Little Ceasars and is a very quick player who works hard every shift. Also invited to the final camp are: Nick Jost, a big defenseman who played for the Toledo Cherokees; Kyle Slicker, who played forward for the Honeybaked AAA Midget team; Andrew Hall (who had previously signed a tender with the Bobcats) can play both forward and defense and will be a big part of the Bobcat defense core this season; Bo Jacobs, who also plays forward and defense has experience with the Muskegon Reeths-Puffer High and brings a great work ethic to the ice; Garret Kennedy, a solid defenseman from Brighton High; and Mike Babyak, a small, quick forward from the Philadelphia Little Flyers.
"I thought the camp went well. There was a lot of good talent present and it was tough to bring the number of kids to Bismarck to only 10," stated Bobcats head coach Dane Litke, "Some of these players could possibly be on our roster come September."
Litke and the rest of the team are already planning for what will be another very exciting year of Bobcat Hockey. 10 year anniversary season tickets are on sale and can be purchased at the Bobcats office (located in the VFW Sports Center at 1200 N. Washington Street), by phone at 222-3300 or by email at bisbobcats@aol.com. For more information visit the Bobcats website at www.BismarckBobcats.com.
